What the Hash Means — and Your First Sats

Here's the secret hiding under the whole game: every single time your pickaxe hits a block, it works out a real piece of Bitcoin maths. Let's take a look at it — and at how it can turn into actual sats.

See it for yourself

Press F3 to open the info overlay, then mine a block and watch. You'll see a long string of letters and numbers flash up. That's a hash — a scramble the game works out from the block, from you, and from the exact moment you hit it. It's the same kind of maths real Bitcoin mining uses. Every swing of your pickaxe does a tiny bit of that work.

That's what "Proof of Play" means: you're not pretending to mine, you really are. It's there to show you how mining actually works — by letting you do it. Hidden, but visible. Visible, but harmless.

Where the sats come in

A sat is the tiniest piece of a Bitcoin. As you play, you'll sometimes see numbers labelled "sats" pop up — from mining, from selling things, from quests. What those numbers are depends on the world you're in:

On most worlds right now, sats are practice — they show up on your screen and in your totals, but no real money moves. You still get the whole game.
On a Bitcoin-enabled server — and only if a parent has switched it on for you — those sats are real Bitcoin, sent straight to your own wallet.

Two things never change, on any world:

You can never lose money playing. Sats only ever come to you, never from you. The game can't charge you a thing.
It's not gambling. Every payout below is a flat, known amount for something you actually did — never a roll of the dice.

The ways sats turn up

Once you've found your feet, you'll meet all of these:

Smelting — remember the Furnace, back at Smelt Iron in a Furnace? Every completed smelt ticks a flat 1-sat trickle to whoever's nearby. It's the one place the hash itself actually turns into sats — not random, the same amount every time.
Selling at a Vendor Block — set up a little shop and other players pay you for your goods. (Or just swap items with Barter, which works on every world, sats or no sats.)
Quests from villagers, and small tips people leave on builds you've made.

Don't expect to get rich

An hour of playing earns a tiny handful of sats — enough to feel like a reward, nothing like a wage. The point was never the money — it's that the work behind every hash is real, and you can watch it happen.
